SIGNS YOU ARE GROWING AS A BELIEVER

Spiritual growth is not measured by how long you have attended church, how much Bible knowledge you have, or how busy you are in ministry. Growth is seen in how your life is being changed by Jesus Christ.

You do not have to be perfect, but there should be evidence that you are growing.

1. You are becoming more aware of your sin.

As you grow closer to God, you begin to see attitudes, motives, and actions that you once ignored or excused.

2. You repent more quickly.

Instead of defending yourself or blaming others, you are more willing to admit when you are wrong and turn from your sin.

3. You have a growing desire for God’s Word.

You do not read the Bible only because you feel obligated. You want to know what God has said and how He wants you to live.

4. Obedience matters more than comfort.

You are becoming more willing to obey God even when doing so is difficult, costly, or unpopular.

5. You are becoming more like Christ.

Love, patience, kindness, humility, faithfulness, and self-control are becoming more visible in your life.

6. You are less controlled by the opinions of others.

You still care about people, but pleasing God matters more than gaining their praise or approval.

7. You can receive correction.

You may not enjoy being corrected, but you are becoming more willing to listen, examine your heart, and change when correction agrees with Scripture.

8. You are learning to trust God.

You may not always understand what God is doing, but you are learning to trust His wisdom, goodness, and timing.

9. You care more about the spiritual needs of others.

You want others to know Christ, grow in truth, and live in obedience to Him.

10. You no longer make peace with sin.

Sin may still tempt you, and you may still stumble, but you cannot remain comfortable in something you know is wrong.

“But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ” (2 Peter 3:18).

Spiritual growth may happen quickly in some areas and slowly in others. We may not notice the changes from one day to the next, but over time there should be clear evidence that Christ is changing us.
