Borodina, Mashabayeva and Kochelaevskaia receive honors

LAS VEGAS, Nev. (April 22, 2025) – A trio of Wyoming Cowgirls received All-Mountain West honors, announced Tuesday evening by the league office at the annual Mountain West Championships banquet. Violetta Borodina and Anastasiia Kochelaevskaia were both named to the All-Mountain West Singles Team while Borodina and her doubles partner, Dilnaz Mashabayeva were named to the MW All-Doubles squad.

Borodina was named to the all-singles team for the first time in her career. The junior, who spent most of the season playing at the No. 1 singles position, compiled a pair of league victories in 2025. Borodina was also ahead in two other matches that went unfinished during MW action this season.

Kochelaevskaia made an immediate impact for Wyoming in her freshman campaign, compiling a 4-3 record in MW play, playing at both the No. 1 and 2 singles positions. Kochelaevskaia posted a 3-1 mark at the second spot. This marks the fifth consecutive season that Wyoming has landed a pair on the All-Mountain West Singles Team.

In doubles, Borodina and Mashabayeva were a force, playing the whole season together at the No. 1 doubles spot. The duo went 6-2 in Mountain West play this season. The tandem was an integral part to the Cowgirls’ team success at doubles this season as UW went 6-4 for Doubles Points during MW action in 2025. This marks the second all-doubles honor for Borodina in her career. Wyoming has had a doubles team named all-conference every season during the Dean Clower Era.

The trio and the rest of the Cowgirls open Mountain West Championship play Wednesday at 11 a.m., against ninth-seeded Colorado State.
