Mother of Krinkee shooter changes plea

SHERIDAN (WNE) — The mother of the man who allegedly shot and killed Sgt. Nevada Krinkee last year changed her plea to guilty per a plea agreement.
Hurley was indicted by a grand jury Jan. 15 for allegedly buying two 9 millimeter pistols and one .22 caliber pistol and giving them to Lowery.
According to the plea agreement, Eileen Marie Hurley is set to plead guilty to providing a Taurus 9mm pistol to “Prohibited Person #1” — her son William F. Lowery. She will also plead guilty to telling authorities that she was the buyer of the Taurus 9mm pistol and a Stoeger 9mm pistol when she actually was not.
The other two counts Hurley originally faced are expected to be dismissed at sentencing.
The government’s theory is that Ms. Hurley bought these handguns on behalf of Lowery. Law enforcement’s investigation into these handguns stemmed from the shooting death of Sgt. Nevada Krinkee February 2024. The incident also resulted in the death of Lowery.
Law enforcement conducted a number of interviews with Hurley about how the firearms she purchased came to be in Lowery’s possession. During one of the interviews, she informed the investigators Lowery had stolen the firearms from her, according to court documents.
Hurley’s sentencing hearing is set for Aug. 5 at 9:30 a.m. in U.S. District Court in Cheyenne. However, change of plea hearing documents say the government is going to request the sentencing be held in Casper.
