SHERIDAN (WNE) — The life of Nevada Krinkee, fallen Sheridan Police Department sergeant, will be honored this week as several Sheridan County law enforcement officers attend National Police Week memorial events in Washington, D.C.

National Police Week started May 6 and continues through May 15. Krinkee’s name was inscribed on the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington, D.C., alongside more than 22,000 names etched into its stone walls, according to previous reporting by The Sheridan Press.

Krinkee's photo was also posted on a remembrance wall.

The memorial is dedicated to the memory of law enforcement officers who died in the line of duty.

A candlelight vigil will be held Tuesday, where Krinkee's name will be read aloud to memorialize those who made the ultimate sacrifice, according to the National Police Week website. Tune in to the vigil Tuesday at 5:45 p.m. at bit.ly/4jU0CUO.

Thursday marks the annual National Peace Officers' Memorial Service, which will be held on the West Front of the U.S. Capitol. The service mainly honors the officers who recently made the ultimate sacrifice and pays tribute to all the fallen, the website said.

The service begins at noon and is expected to run approximately three hours. Watch it livestreamed on YouTube.
