Nov. 11, 1967–Dec. 24, 2023
It’s true there are angels on earth, and God took an angel to heaven on Christmas Eve.
Dawn was born Nov. 11, 1967, to Bernard E. Bohlman and Lynn Marie (McManaman) Bohlman in Waukegan, Illinois.
Dawn was baptized in the Catholic church and attended Our Lady of Humility grade school. Moving to Green Bay, Wisconsin, she then attended Holy Cross Catholic School. She lived on a farm in Green Bay and joined the Girl Scouts, enjoying a lot of camping and fishing. She earned almost every badge in the book.
Living on the farm, she had a lot of horses with her favorite friend, Shannon, who lived to be 34 years old. She was always busy!
In 1978, her mom moved to Newcastle, Wyoming, where Dawn brought her horses and Great Dane dogs, and she attended Newcastle schools. She worked at the Hi-16 through high school. She was also a finalist in the Miss Teenage Wyoming Pageant, and did some modeling for Coppertone sun tan products. She then decided to be a hair stylist and attended the Black Hills Beauty College in Rapid City, South Dakota, later taking her talents to Chicago, New York, and was still working in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
In 1986, Dawn met and married her forever love, Bruce M. Leone. They had one son, Christopher M. Leone. Bruce was in the Navy, so they lived in Bremerton Washington, before moving back to the Waukegan, Zion, Illinois, area.
Enjoying life, Dawn added to her happiness with two daughters, Corissa Sexton and Tia Clayton. Family was everything to Dawn. She sure enjoyed being a grandmother to seven great kids, Kailyn Leone, Brody Leone, Payden Lorimor, Darrell, Skyler, Sapphire and Drake Bennett.
She was preceded in death by her father, Bernard; grandparents, John and Loraine McManaman; favorite uncle, Timmy McManaman; and son C.J.; aunt, Sue Gornick; uncle, Razzle; cousins, Brad and Carrie Corcoran.
She is survived by her mother, Lynn Marie McManaman Bohlman of Newcastle; son, Christopher Leone, New York; daughters, Corissa (Darrell Bennett) Sexton and Tia Tyler Clayon, both of Kenosha, Wisconsin; aunts, Lori (Greg) Winniewicz, Las Vegas, and Mary Corcoran, Waukegan; uncle, Michael (Karen) McManaman, Kentucky; cousins, Gregory, Sara, Donnie and Dylan, Sonja, Michael, Maddie, Mason, Mitchel and Aiden Corcoran, Nikky, Renae, Kaili and Adam McManaman, Jenny (Danny) Meloday Cocoran, Ariel Ann (George) Lacy and Evan McManaman, Lisa Worlan, Jessica, Natalie and Benjamin Tuska.
She is also survived by lifetime friends, Donna, Moria, Sheree, Claudia, Lisa, and Chyna; and very special fur babies, Miss Bella and Felix the Cat.
Funeral services were held Jan. 12 at the Memorial Chapel of Waukegan.
A celebration of life will be held at the Flying V Lodge in Newcastle on Aug. 9, at 1 p.m.
