COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Aug. 27, 2025) – The University of Wyoming cross country men’s team earned one first-place vote for third while the Cowgirls were picked sixth in the Mountain West Cross Country Preseason Poll released by the conference office on Wednesday.

Mountain West cross country coaches ranked each men’s and women’s team, besides their own, to determine the rankings.

Cowboys return their two top finishers from last season’s NCAA Championships squad in seniors Jacob White and Ryker Holtzen. The team also returns several major contributors from last season and adds some new names in the transfer portal and incoming freshman class that are set to make an impact.

The Cowgirls, while losing some big names to graduation, still return 18 from the team that placed fifth at the MW Championships and 12th in the NCAA Mountain Regional.
