Wyoming Wins Five Events at the Jerry Quiller Classic

BOULDER, Colo. (April 4, 2026) – Wyoming track and field picked up five event victories to close the weekend at the Jerry Quiller Classic, Saturday.

COWBOYS

Senior Cam Burkett won Wyoming’s first title of the day in his outdoor season opener in the shot put. His put of 18.89 meters, the No. 6 mark in the nation this season, secured the victory on only his second attempt. All four of Burkett’s fair throws landed over 18 meters, the only competitor to reach that mark.

Freshman Ayden Mills competed in his first collegiate hammer throw event and placed eighth in the finals. His best throw, coming on his first attempt, landed at 50.09 meters, just two inches over ninth place.

In the 1,500 meters, sophomore Austin Akers finished 14th overall with a time of 4:02.51. He was followed by sophomore Meyer Smith in 19th, crossing the line at 4:07.09. Also in the event, junior Aidan Ramsey placed 23rd with a time of 4:09.08 while sophomore Nolan Hoffman took 24th at 4:10.03.

Senior Darius Wiggins was the lone Cowboy in the 400 meters, finishing in third. He made his way around the track in 48.51, his best 400 time since the 2025 Mountain West Outdoor Championships.

In the 100-meter dash, senior Carter McComb led the way for Wyoming with an eighth-place time of 11.01. Sophomore Bridger Norton followed in 19th with his finish of 11.28.

Sophomore Christian Edwards won the triple jump with a clearance of 13.75 meters. His best jump since the 2025 MW Outdoor Championship came on his second attempt.

Seniors Mac Zastrow and Tristan Knueppel finished 3-4 as the only Cowboys in the 800 meters. Zastrow crossed the line at 1:54.30 while Knueppel ran a time of 1:56.20.

In the 200-meter dash, Norton would lead Wyoming with a time of 21.60 for fifth while Wiggins took sixth at 21.82.

The Cowboys closed the track with a third-place finish in the 4x400-meter relay. The team of Knueppel, Zastrow, Ramsey and Smith finished with a time of 3:31.33.

COWGIRLS

The Cowgirls opened the day in the shot put, where two finished in the Top 3. Freshman Jade West threw to second place with her best and final put, which landed at 14.29 meters. Freshman Teagan Becker finished third with her best throw of 13.43 meters on her fourth throw.

In the long jump, four Cowgirls competed in the two-flight event. Sophomore Koi Adderley led the way in third with a jump of 5.58 meters, only one of four to reach the 5.50-meter mark. Senior Elayna Chafee and sophomore Melody ZumBrunnen finished 6-7 in the standings. Chafee’s best jump of 5.41 meters came on her second attempt while ZumBrunnen reached 5.31 meters, her best of the school year, also on her second jump. Freshman Desirae Iacovetto placed 12th with her best leap landing at 4.74 meters.

Adderley would also compete in the high jump, where she placed fourth with a clearance of 1.66 meters. She reached her season-best height on her second try before bowing out at 1.71 meters.

Only Cowgirls ran in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in senior Rozlyn Slichko, sophomore Brionna Holso and freshman Gracie Uhre. Slichko would win with a time of 11:09.96 and improve her program No. 8 time to 10:51.81 with altitude conversions. Holso took second with a time of 11:19.95, a personal best after converting to 11:01.53, while Uhre ran a time of 11:21.65 for third in her first collegiate steeplechase.

Sophomore Muriel Jones picked up another Wyoming victory in the 1,500 meters with a time of 4:34.18. Her time after altitude conversions was a personal best at 4:27.65. Freshman Claire Engelhardt finished second, crossing the line at 4:38.24. The next two to cross the finish line for Wyoming were freshmen Ella Unrein and Megan Doherty. Unrein finished eighth at 4:51.32 while Doherty took ninth with a time of 4:56.56, both personal bests. Sophomore Lauren Clarke rounded out the Cowgirls with a 15th-place finish of 5:08.05, a personal best.

In the 100-meter hurdles, sophomore Carly Norman finished in third at 14.50, a personal best by over .10 seconds. Iacovetto took fourth with her own best time by over .30 seconds at 14.65. Freshman Payton Becker crossed the line eighth overall at 15.09.

Like the men’s 400 meters, only one Poke ran in the event in sophomore Madeline Thorne. She would finish third with a time of 57.45.

Adderley would lead another event for Wyoming with her sixth-place finish in the 100-meter dash at 12.44. She was followed by senior Faith Jehu in ninth at 12.62 and ZumBrunnen taking 13th with a time of 12.88.

In the 800-meter run, senior Libby Berryhill finished second with a time of 2:11.26, only 0.20 seconds out from first. She was followed by sophomore Hanan Aldelemy in third with a time of 2:11.30. Sophomore Julia Rudolph finished with a personal best time of 2:11.07, with conversions, for fourth. Freshman Elliana Zock took sixth place, crossing the line at 2:18.08 while sophomore Lily Nichols ran a season best of 2:19.59 for seventh. Sophomore Kayla Coppola rounded out the Cowgirls with a time of 2:27.64 for 12th.

All three Cowgirls finished next to one another in the standings of the 400-meter hurdles. Junior Gabbreiella Mendoza-Molina ran the fastest time for eighth at 1:03.43, Norman came in ninth at 1:03.70 and Becker would finish with a personal best time of 1:04.00 in 10th.

The Cowgirl squad of Rudolph, Berryhill, Aldelemy and Zock closed the day with a win in the 4x400-meter relay. They got the baton around in a season-best time of 3:56.54.
