The Wyoming Department of Transportation will be conducting a chip seal project on March 3, weather permitting, on the Highway 16 Business Route through town according to a letter addressed to residents dated Jan. 28.
“This project will extend from the railroad crossing on Main Street east past the (Weston County) Court House onto Summit Street and end at the intersection with US 16 Bypass near Pizza Hut,” the letter states.
The department is asking that all vehicles be removed from this route on March 3 to allow for this work to be completed.
“The crack seal will be completed one side at a time with flaggers and one way traffic during construction,” the letter says. “This work is anticipated to take one  day to complete. It is anticipated that work will begin at 7 a.m. and end at approximately 6:30 p.m. If poor weather conditions exist on March 3, this work will be delayed to the next weather permitting day.”
This project is part of the department’s Preventative Maintenance Program. The program was designed to increase pavement life, which will reduce costs and delays by extending the time between more expensive and invasive paving construction projects.
