CODY (WNE) — A Cody woman was arrested after allegedly possessing methamphetamine while driving with her child.

Rochelle Wood was pulled over by Wyoming State Trooper Crosby Ralston on the afternoon of May 20, after he observed that her car had an illegal window tint. After tailing the vehicle, Ralston noted that Wood’s brake lights were also not operating, according to an affidavit he prepared.

After pulling Wood over, Ralston “immediately smelled the odor of burnt marijuana emitting from inside the vehicle” and noted that Wood was not wearing her seat belt, the affidavit said. As Ralston was looking into her background, Powell Police Officer Kevin Bennett walked his K9 around her vehicle.

Bennett’s dog alerted him to the front passenger seat, which prompted Ralston and Wood to search the vehicle. Before the search, Wood told law enforcement that she had marijuana in her vehicle, but that “the items in the makeup bag are not hers,” the affidavit said.

The makeup bag, which was located on the passenger seat, contained several bags filled with suspected methamphetamine. Two scales, multiple pipes with meth and marijuana residue, and a large bag of marijuana were also found in the vehicle.

Due to the smell of marijuana, Ralston took Wood through a field sobriety test; however, she demonstrated no signs of impairment.

She was placed under arrest for child endangerment and possession of a controlled substance and was also charged with multiple traffic citations.

Wood posted her $15,000 bond and is no longer held in the Park County Detention Center, as of Monday morning.
