An undeniable split

Letter to the editor:

There are two kinds of Republicans. The divide is sharp and cannot be denied. As it becomes more apparent, I find it necessary to define what creates this great divide. 

With little observation you can see who is on each side. The labels of RINO (Republican in name only) and Freedom Caucus are freely and thoughtlessly thrown around. 

But for me these labels are not defining what is really happening. 

The relentless pushback on any policy that changes the status quo is a flag. Any change to how money flows through the system seems to activate backlash. Anything that threatens the 25% of Wyoming’s workforce that depends on government dollars creates extreme resistance.   Subsidies to industries are sacred and not to be touched. It has taken years of planning and patience to build the money trails — some legitimate and some not. I am going to call the side that does not want the money trails disturbed the “status quo.” 

The money trail is locked on old ways that benefit the establishment. 

We need a seismic shift. 

Education must change to keep up with exponential growth in artificial intelligence. Not to be too dramatic, but we may have a national threat of communism. Priorities must shift. 

How do we know what is truly a priority without an audit? Are we paying for things that can be private sector services? Are departments overstaffed because we have not modernized methods?

We need representation that believes in transparency. We need innovative solutions and to move away from the way we’ve always done it. I will call this side the “auditors.” 

As I look at any list of candidates they all have already chosen their teams. The Status Quo or the Auditors.
