Two dead in motorcycle crash after high speed chase

GILLETTE (WNE) — Two people were killed in a crash in northwest Campbell County Friday evening following a high-speed chase.
Jonathon W. Townsend, 43, and Amber M. Cisneros, 44, died in the crash near Spotted Horse, Undersheriff Quentin Reynolds said.
Townsend was driving north on Highway 14-16 near the coal mine lookout north of Gillette. Townsend, riding a 2007 Kawasaki, was clocked going 104 mph in a 70 mph zone. Cisneros was sitting behind Townsend on the motorcycle. As the deputy began a pursuit, Townsend increased his speed to more than 130 mph, Reynolds said.
Townsend continued driving north on Highway 14-16. The pursuit lasted about 15 minutes, with the deputy reporting that Townsend showed signs of reckless driving throughout the pursuit.
Townsend tried to make a turn near Spotted Horse but was unsuccessful and crashed into a nearby ditch.
Campbell County Corner Paul Wallem said both Townsend and Cisneros were pronounced dead at the scene. The Wyoming Highway Patrol took over the crash investigation.
It was learned later on that Townsend did not have a driver’s license or a motorcycle endorsement.
