Michael Pehringer of Rocky Road Trucking Co., and Glade Westwood of Dixon Bros Inc., were both recognized by the Wyoming Trucking Association during its 80th annual convention in Sheridan on May 17.
According to a May 20 release, Pehringer was chosen as the 2019 Mechanic of the Year by the association. He has been a mechanic for 25 years, the last 20 of those with Rocky Road Trucking.
Graduating from Western Tech in Rapid City, Pehringer works on semi-trucks, trailers, oil rig motors, dump trucks and cranes. He has also received training on brakes, computers and electrical wiring and is DOT certified, according to the press release.
“The Mechanic of the Year award recognizes deserving mechanics for superior work on vehicle maintenance. Nominees are evaluated on the basis of equipment responsibilities, safety, equipment downtime, community involvement and special accomplishments,” the release states. “The winner receives a plaque and gift certificate for the purchase of tolls from the Wyoming Trucking Association Council of Safety Supervisors Maintenance Council.”
Westwood was named the Outstanding Safety Supervisor of the Year during the convention. He has served as Dixon Bros. safety supervisor for two years but has 14 years’ experience.
“Glade’s territory includes five states. He is also a MSHA Surface Instructor,” the release states. “He works with all state agencies to ensure the company is in compliance with their regulations and reporting.”
