Teen charged with aggravated vehicular homicide

GILLETTE (WNE) — A teenager has been charged with aggravated vehicular homicide in the crash that killed 19-year-old Destiny Kirsch in the early hours of the Fourth of July, and high speeds and drug use are being looked at as potential contributing factors.
Noah Moschonas, 16, had his arraignment in Circuit Court Monday afternoon before Circuit Judge Paul S. Phillips.
Moschonas is alleged to have been driving a Cadillac CTS on Interstate 90 when he failed to navigate a curve and crashed the car, ejecting and killing Kirsch, who had been in the passenger seat.
According to an affidavit of probable cause filed in the case, law enforcement believes Moschonas may have been under the influence of a controlled substance at the time of the crash.
According to the car’s air bag control module, the Cadillac was traveling at 116 mph five seconds before the crash, and Moschonas started braking six seconds before the crash.
And video taken an hour and a half before the crash showed Moschonas vaping and appearing to be high.
Phillips set Moschonas’s bond at $100,000, cash or commercial surety, and scheduled a preliminary hearing for July 23, where it will be decided whether there’s enough evidence to bind Moschonas over to District Court.
