COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Dec. 23, 2025) – Junior swimmer Tara Joyce was named the Mountain West Swimmer of the Week for the first time in her career, the conference office announced Tuesday.

Joyce, from Cody, Wyo., won the weekly MW award after setting two school records and swimming an NCAA standard time at the UNLV Invitational. Joyce added to her sprint freestyle records when she won the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 48.56. She now holds the 100- and 200-yard freestyle records and the No. 2 time in the 50 yards.

Joyce would also break the school record in the 400-yard freestyle relay, anchoring the team with a time of 3:18.15, for first place. With two event wins, she added 60 team points to lead the Cowgirls to a fourth-place team finish at the meet.

Joyce is the first Cowgirl swimmer to win MW Swimmer of the Week since Carly Palmer did so on Jan. 16, 2024, and the first non-senior swimmer since 2021. She is also just the second this season to earn a conference weekly award on the women’s side, following up Alicia Gonzalez's Diver of the Week in October.
