Sheriff asks public to help locate fugitive sex offender from Byron

CODY (WNE) — State and federal law enforcement are seeking information from the public to aid in the search for a Byron man wanted for multiple sex crimes against children.

Anthony Pease of Byron is wanted on six counts of felony sexual assault involving a minor.  Pease has been on the run since November 1, according to social media posts by the Big Horn County Sheriff’s Office.

Pease is a 39-year-old white male, standing at 5’11” and 180 lbs.  He has blonde hair and blue eyes.

He is suspected to be traveling on foot and was last sighted in the Byron area on the morning of December 13.  U.S. marshals have designated Pease as dangerous and ask that members of the public call 911 if they see him.

Sheriff Ken Blackburn confirmed to the Enterprise that his office is still searching for Pease as of Wednesday morning. He suspects that someone in the area may be assisting Pease and emphasized that aiding and abetting a fugitive can carry the same penalty the fugitive faces – in this case approximately 50 years in prison, Blackburn said.

The BHCSO is currently working alongside the Park County Sheriff’s office, Wyoming Highway Patrol and the U.S. Marshals in the search for Pease.

“We are asking all Byron area residents to make sure your homes, garages, out buildings, and vehicles are locked and secured,” BHCSO wrote in a social media post.

The reward for information leading to Pease’s capture was recently raised to $2,000.
