Sheridan Memorial Hospital named one of nation’s top rural hospitals

SHERIDAN (WNE) — The Chartis Center for Rural Health recently named Sheridan Memorial Hospital as a 2026 Top 100 Rural and Community Hospital, marking the 10th time SMH has earned the recognition since Chartis began the program in 2016. 

SMH earned the recognition this year alongside Wyoming’s Ivinson Memorial Hospital in Laramie and St. Johns Health in Jackson.

“Being named among the Top 100 Rural and Community Hospitals is a reflection of the dedication of our providers, staff and volunteers, as well as the trust our community places in us,” Mike McCafferty, chief executive officer of SMH said. “Sheridan Memorial Hospital’s mission is to serve our community, and this recognition affirms our ongoing efforts to expand services, invest in advanced technology and ensure access.”
