Seasonal paving begins May 11

Maintenance crews with the Wyoming Department of Transportation’s District 4 will begin seasonal paving operations in Crook and Weston counties on Monday, May 11, weather permitting, according to Laura Dalles, senior public relations specialist.

The work targets roadway damage caused by winter conditions, snow removal and heavy traffic to improve safety and extend the life of highways.

Crews will start on the old U.S. Highway 14 service road between mile markers 1 and 2.5 and between mile markers 15 and 18. Work will then move to WYO 111 between mile markers 8 and 9.

Additional paving is planned on WYO 24 between mile markers 18–18.8 and 31–32, U.S. Highway 16 between mile markers 231 and 232, WYO 116 North between mile markers 28.2 and 27.9, and WYO 450 between mile markers 28 and 28.5.

Motorists should expect temporary lane closures and flagging operations in work zones, though delays are expected to be minimal.

WYDOT reminds drivers to follow the state’s “Move Over” law by changing lanes when possible or slowing at least 20 mph below the posted speed limit on two-lane roads with speeds of 45 mph or greater. Violations carry a $235 fine.
