Landen Hill and Adalyn Olson capped off exceptional seasons for the Newcastle High School track team by earning postseason recognition following standout performances throughout the spring.

Head coach Matt Conzelman praised Hill for a breakout sophomore campaign that included rewriting portions of the school record book.

“Landen had an exceptional track season this year,” Conzelman said.

Hill broke the Newcastle High School high jump record at the Bulldog Invite with a leap of 6 feet, 5 inches, surpassing the previous mark of 6-4 3/4 set by Brad Massman in 1995. He also helped lead the Dogies’ 4x100-meter relay team to a pair of school records during the regular season and again at the 3A East Regional Meet, eclipsing a mark that had stood since 1990.

Conzelman noted Hill’s consistency throughout the season as he earned all-conference honors in the high jump with a first-place finish of 6-3 at regionals.

Hill wrapped up the season by placing fifth in the high jump at the Wyoming State Track and Field Championships. He also finished ninth as part of the 4x100 relay team, 16th in long jump and 21st in the 200-meter dash.

“It was inspiring to watch Landen improve every week, and we are excited to see what he will accomplish over the next two years,” Conzelman said.

Adalyn Olson also earned praise from Conzelman after battling through injury while producing one of the top seasons on the girls team.

“Adalyn enjoyed a remarkable track season, demonstrating resilience and determination despite battling a lower back injury throughout the year,” Conzelman said.

Despite the injury, the junior broke her own school records in both the 100-meter hurdles and the 200-meter dash at the 3A East Regional Meet.

At regionals, Olson earned all-conference honors with first-place finishes in the long jump and 100 hurdles. She also received all-conference honorable mention recognition in both the 100- and 200-meter dashes.

Olson carried that momentum into the state championships, where she earned all-state honors in both the 100 hurdles and long jump.

“Her dedication and competitive drive make her a standout athlete, and we are excited to have her return for another year,” Conzelman said.
