One dead in shooting near Pine Bluffs; suspect located

CHEYENNE (WNE) — Laramie County Sheriff ’s deputies responded to reports of a fatal shooting in the 1200 block of County Road 157 at 4:22 p.m. Tuesday.
According to a Facebook post from the Laramie County Sheriff ’s Office, one person was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the victim will be released once the Laramie County Coroner’s Office has carried out all required notifications, according to the post.
According to LCSO and the Pine Bluffs Police Department, the suspect in the shooting was located and is not a threat to the public. Pine Bluffs Police initially asked that the public avoid the area to allow personnel to travel safely to and from the crime scene west of town.
The sheriff ’s office declined to provide any information on the suspect to the WTE, including whether the unidentified person is in custody.
By 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, the scene was returned to the property owner. The cause of death is currently under investigation, and the investigation remains ongoing.
This is the second fatal shooting in Laramie County this month.
On June 13, a shooting was reported at West Winds Mobile Home Park, located in unincorporated Laramie County south of Cheyenne.
Following an investigation, the Laramie County Sheriff ’s Office detained and charged 19-year-old Nathan Pfaff with second-degree murder in connection with the shooting death of 18-year-old Ryan Snow.
No possible motive for the shooting has been revealed, and Pfaff is being held on a cash bond of $250,000. If convicted, he faces 20 years to life in prison.
