New UW interim provost named

LARAMIE (WNE) — The University of Wyoming launched its search for an interim provost Wednesday during a Board of Trustees meeting.
The search didn’t take long, when on the following day, the university announced the appointment of Anne Alexander for the position, setting the stage for a smooth leadership transition ahead for the upcoming academic year.
Alexander, an experienced academic and economist, will officially begin her term as interim provost on Aug. 1. She currently serves as the assistant dean of the College of Business, and is scheduled to begin a transition period alongside outgoing interim provost Scott Turpen on July 1.
“Dr. Alexander is a respected and capable leader with a long history of service to UW,” President Ed Seidel said in a UW news release. “Her steady leadership will help guide the university through this important transition.”
Her career at the university includes several leadership roles, such as director of International Programs, associate dean of Outreach, and director of the Health Economics Policy Center.
“As someone who has been shaped by Wyoming and this university, I’m deeply honored and humbled to serve during this important transition,” Alexander said in the news release.
