Douglas, WY – The Outdoor Enthusiasts of Converse County will be opening a Bike Skills section to the newly open Douglas Mountain Trails City Park this summer, due in part to a grant received from the Wyoming Community Foundation’s Grace Amspoker Fund recommended by the Casper Area Local Board. In addition to the mountain bike and hiking trails already open in the 38-acre park, there will be a designed and certified Bike Skills Park, featuring pump track and jump line.
Outdoor Enthusiasts of Converse County (OECC) is a nonprofit organization serving Converse County with a focus on improving access to all the area’s fantastic outdoor options. OECC has worked to increase the trail system in and around Douglas and believes the funds received will strengthen the system that has been created.
OECC president, Eil Geisler, says OECC’s Bike Skills Park is set to be a wonderful asset to the community. “Not only can they be used by locals already enthusiastic about bike riding and hiking, since it is minutes from downtown, people who are curious about it can easily go for a quick hike or try mountain biking with trails and features for a variety of skills. The Douglas Mountain Trails and Bike Skills Park also will appeal to the nearby I-25 traveler for a quick and easy stop with extraordinary views of the Laramie Mountain Range. A gateway park for locals and visitors to all the outdoor recreation that Converse County has to offer”.
