Brody Knowlton Sits in Second Just One Shot Off the Pace

PALM DESERT, California (2/24/26) – The University of Wyoming men’s golf team wrapped up Day 2 of the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate on Tuesday. Not only are the Pokes in position to take home a team trophy but they have a couple of individuals in contention, as well.

The Cowboys are third as a team at 563 (-13) in a tournament being played at The Classic Club. Brody Knowlton is second overall at 137 (-7) and just one shot off Colorado’s Jason Rivera’s lead.  Brody Leid isn’t far behind tied for third at 138 (-6). The Buffaloes lead the team standings at 547 (-29), and Sacramento State sits second at 562 (-14).

“I just want to keep these young guys in the moment and not get out ahead of ourselves,” head coach Joe Jensen said. “We’ll just prepare to have a good day tomorrow, and hopefully I can create some steadiness and confidence. But that being said, with this young crew, I want them to feel jitters and be in the thick of things and learn something – scratch and claw.”

Leid had the best day of any Cowboy, firing a 66 (-6) that was littered with five birdies and an eagle. Knowlton built off his strong first day with a Round 2 score of 70 (-2) that encompassed half a dozen birdies.

Kristof Panke and Kellen Ball are each tied for 48th at 145 (+1). Ball shot a second round 75 (+3), while Panke recorded a Day 2 score of 71 (-1).

Conner Scheich’s score of 150 (+6) is dropped. He registered a 78 (+6) on Tuesday. Austin Barry, who’s competing as an individual, is 120th at 163 (+19).

The third and final round of the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate gets underway Wednesday at 9 a.m. (MST).
