Men’s Golf in Fourth Following Day 2 of the Mountain West Championships

TUCSON, Arizona (5/4/26) – The University of Wyoming men’s golf team wrapped up Day 2 of the Mountain West Conference Championships on Monday. The Pokes remain in contention, currently fourth at 555 (-21), in a tournament being played at Omni Tucson National Resort.

“We are so darn proud of the group,” head coach Joe Jensen said. “They’re all good kids who’re playing extremely hard. They’re battling, hanging in there and learning.”

UNLV vaulted into first at 549 (-27). Grand Canyon is second at 550 (-26), while San Diego State rounds out the top three at 554 (-22). The Lopes’ Mans Boje and the Aztec pair of Tyler Kowack and Harry Takis are all atop the individual leaderboard at 134 (-10).

“It’s a tight championship at the top,” Jensen said. “We are going toe-to-toe with UNLV, New Mexico and San Diego State, all top 50 programs."

Brody Leid paces the Pokes and is just one shot off the lead, in a tie for fourth, at 135 (-9). He put together another phenomenal round, firing a 68 (-4) on Monday that was comprised of five birdies and just one bogey.

Kellen Ball enjoyed a second consecutive day of red numbers. He carded a near flawless 69 (-3) that featured four birdies and just one bogey. He’s tied for 13th at 139 (-5).

Brody Knowlton pieced together a second round 73 (+1), which saw him hole a pair of birdies while also logging three bogeys. He shares 20th place at 140 (-4).

Kristof Panke bounced back on Monday from an uneven first round. He fired a rock solid 70 (-2) with three birdies and just one bogey. He’s tied for 45th at 146 (+2).

Conner Scheich struggled in Round 2 en route to registering a 79 (+7). He now shares 54th place at 150 (+6).

The third and final round gets underway on Tuesday at 8 a.m. (MST).

“We are going to stick with our process and do the very best we can tomorrow,” Jensen said. “We know it will be a battle. We are going to prepare and play hard.”
