Marleen Rae Penfield, 83, of Apache Junction, Ariz., passed away peacefully in her sleep on Dec. 13, 2021. 
She was born June 14, 1938, in Newcastle, Wyo., to Claire and Avis (Gould) Drake. She was the youngest of four children, joining her brother Harold “Hoddy,” and her sisters, Lucia (Yeager) and Roberta (Collins). 
She was married to Howard “Ray” Penfield on Sept. 5, 1957, and together they had seven children, Jim, Ted, Tim, Patti, Andy, Rob, and John. They traveled around the country, until they came to Mesa, Ariz., in December 1981. Together, they managed apartment complexes and mobile home parks across the metro Phoenix area until they came to The Palms Mobile Home Park in Apache Junction in 2000. They managed the park together until Ray’s passing in 2007. She continued to manage the property until 2013 when her son Tim assumed responsibilities. 
She was an outgoing, sociable person who enjoyed gatherings with her family and friends near and far, whenever she could. She was an accomplished seamstress, organizer, manager, wife,
and mother. 
She is survived by her children, Jim and Jodi of Apache Junction, Ted and Pam of Newcastle, Tim and Jill of Gilbert, Ariz., Andy and Patty of Eckert, Colo., Rob and Sherry of Onalaska, Wisc., and John and Debbie of La Crosse, Wisc.; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. 
She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, and her husband, Ray. She was much loved and will be missed by everyone who knew her.
