GILLETTE (WNE) — The man who pleaded guilty to firing 30 shots in a trailer park last spring, which led to police responding with an armored vehicle, has been sentenced.

Ty Roush, 38, pleaded guilty Feb. 14 to destruction of property — using a firearm while committing a felony — and three counts of reckless endangering.

On May 27, District Judge Michael McGrady sentenced Roush to six to nine years in prison, suspended for three years of supervised probation, which is in line with the plea agreement.

Roush is to not have any contact with the victims or the trailer park; he also must pay more than $4,500 in restitution to residents of the trailer park and RHP Properties and apply for Adult Treatment Court.

On May 6, 2024, police responded to the 3200 block of Echeta Road after a woman who lived in the lot next to Roush said she heard about 10 gunshots coming from his home.

Police tried calling Roush to command him to stop firing and step outside his residence, but those calls went unanswered. Police called the woman next door and asked her to leave the residence, to which she said she was “hunkered down” and that bullets were going through the windows and walls of her home, according to court documents. Police eventually got the woman out of her home to safety.

An armored vehicle arrived and officers used its speaker system to continue telling Roush to stop shooting and leave his home.

Eventually, Roush walked out of the front door with an AR-15 in hand and dropped it per officer commands. Roush made nonsensical statements about a woman in the house who he said was a demon. A breath test showed his blood alcohol content was 0.28%, according to court documents.

Inside his home, police found 33 guns, including several rifles, shotguns, handguns and assault rifles. Police found at least 30 bullet holes inside Roush’s home, 25 of which exited the trailer.

In all, three other homes in the trailer park were found to have been hit with bullets during the shooting.
