LOUIS MARION GOULD
Sept. 8, 1943–Jan. 16, 2026
Louis Marion Gould, 82, of Upton, Wyoming, passed away on Jan. 16, 2026.
Born in Newcastle, Wyoming, on Sept. 8, 1943, to Marion and Gladys Gould, Louie was the second youngest of a large and lively family of 14 children—nine girls and five boys. Growing up in such a full household instilled in him a deep sense of loyalty, humor, and resilience that would define his life.
In 1967, Louie married Joan Adel Hey of Edgemont, South Dakota. Together, they built a life rooted in love, hard work, and family. They raised two daughters, Ladena Lynn and Germaine, who were the light of his life.
Louie was no stranger to hard work. Over the years, he wore many hats — ranch hand, lumberjack, and construction worker — before settling into a long and dedicated career as a custodian with Weston County School District No. 7. He took great pride in his work, retiring after decades of service, having quietly impacted generations of students and staff with his steady presence and strong work ethic.
A true outdoorsman, Louie found joy in hunting, fishing, camping, and woodworking. Whether casting a line, sitting around a campfire, or crafting something with his hands, he was most at peace in nature and among those he loved.
Louie is survived by Ladena, Scott Buckley; Germaine, Jeff Gardner; Kjersti, Nick, Ivol, Ames Waldemar; Colton, Courtney Buckley; Kaylee, George, Erica, Adelaide, William Fey; Clay Gardner (Izzy Jones); Kyle Gardner (Lola Battaglia); Cody (Jordyn Hallett) Beckham Gardner; his sister, Pauline Clark; and his cherished in-laws, Billy Quick, Gene Carpenter, and Jody Gould.
He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, laughter, and unwavering devotion to family and friends.
Those who knew Louie will remember him as one of the good guys — fun-loving, caring, and kind. He had a way of making people feel welcome, valued, and at ease. His stories, his smile, and his generous heart will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
