Juvenile in custody following fatal shooting
CHEYENNE (WNE) β An unidentified juvenile is in custody following the fatal shooting of a 41-year-old woman over the weekend, according to the Laramie County Sheriff Office.
At approximately 12:47 p.m. Saturday, deputies responded to the 2300 block of Pine Avenue for a report of a 41-year-old female with a gunshot wound to the head. The neighborhood is west of South Greeley Highway and south of College Drive.
Deputies arrived on scene and found the victim unconscious but breathing, with a visible gunshot wound to the back of her head.
She was transported to Cheyenne Regional Medical Center before being airlifted to UC Health in Fort Collins, Colorado. She has since succumbed to her injuries, according to a news release sent out by LCSO on Tuesday.
Law enforcement took a juvenile suspect into custody at the scene, but details about charges or the identities of those involved are currently being withheld due to βthe age of the suspect and the sensitive nature of the case,β according to the release.
The investigation remains active. There is no ongoing threat to public safety, according to LCSO.
