JUNE (TOWNSEND) BROWN: June 23, 1934–Oct. 17, 2026

June (Townsend) Brown of Rapid City, South Dakota, born on June 23, 1934, in Newcastle to Bill and Katherine Townsend, passed away from a brief illness Oct. 17, 2026, at the age of 92.

A visitation will be Friday, Oct. 23, from 5–7 p.m. at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home in Rapid City. Celebration of Life will be Saturday, Oct. 24, at 10 a.m. at the South Canyon Lutheran Church in Rapid City, 700 S 44th Street, with a light lunch to follow.

June grew up in Oil City near Osage, a child of the Great Depression. She graduated from Upton High School (Class of 1952), then taught school in Osage before marrying Maurice Brown and moving to South Dakota, where they raised three children and enjoyed a lifetime of travel and adventures. She has remained close to her Wyoming family, friends, and classmates throughout her life.

June was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and three siblings: Kay Linton, Butch Townsend, and Chuck Townsend.

She is survived by her brother, Mark Townsend; her three children, three grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and numerous beloved nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.
