Investing in Life-Saving Technology:

Help Your Local Hospital Bring a New CT Scanner to Weston County
At Weston County Health Services (WCHS), our professional staff is dedicated to quality, patient-focused healthcare, so providing high-quality, timely medical care isn’t just a goal—it’s a promise to the community. That promise is at risk due to an aging piece of equipment at the heart of their diagnostic capabilities: the CT scanner.
Keisha Brueggeman, Radiology Manager at WCHS, explains the challenge clearly:
“Our current CT scanner is approaching end of life. If our CT Scanner were to fail, our facility is placed in a divert status, which delays care and requires patients to immediately be transferred to other facilities as we do not have the ability to rule out critical injuries.”
That’s not just an inconvenience—it’s a potential life-or-death delay. A reliable CT scanner is essential for everything from detecting internal injuries and strokes to evaluating cancers, blood clots, infections, and more. That’s why WCHS is making a push to upgrade to the Philips CT 5100 – Incisive, a state-of-the-art system that brings cutting-edge, AI-supported diagnostics right to our rural hospital in Newcastle, Wyoming.
The Good News: A Gift That Sparked a Campaign
Thanks to a generous $500,000 gift from Ron and Barbara Brunner—earmarked “to be used to improve patient care”—Weston County Health Services was able to take its first big step. Part of that gift has already helped upgrade lab capabilities with the purchase of a new chemistry analyzer. Now, the remaining funds are helping jump-start the CT scanner replacement project.
But to complete the vision, WCHS needs to raise an additional $310,000.
“We’ve already raised $70,000 toward our goal,” Brueggeman reports, “and we’re incredibly thankful for the community support so far. But we still need help to bring this critical technology home and ask for your support of any size.”
What Makes the Philips CT 5100 – Incisive So Essential?
This isn’t just a newer model—it’s a game-changer. The Philips CT 5100 Incisive integrates advanced artificial intelligence and intuitive design to improve both patient comfort and diagnostic precision. Here’s how it benefits our patients and providers:
• Up to 80% lower radiation dose, which means safer imaging without sacrificing quality.
• Faster scans, thanks to streamlined workflows that speed up diagnosis and reduce waiting times.
• A wide bore and adjustable table, making the
experience more comfortable for patients of all sizes and conditions.
• Tube for Life Guarantee, lowering long-term
maintenance costs and ensuring the scanner is always ready when it’s needed most.
Additionally, the scanner’s cardiac imaging capabilities are among the most advanced available, offering motion-free imaging even at high heart rates—critical for emergency and cardiac patients.
