He’s Not Finished Yet
God never leaves His work unfinished. Philippians 1:6 reminds us that the One who began a good work in you will carry it to completion. Trust His faithfulness even in the waiting, because He’s not finished with you yet.
Philippians 1:6 – “Being confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work among you will complete it by the day of Christ Jesus.”
If you’ve ever planted a garden, you know something about patience. You drop the seeds in the dirt, water them, and then you wait. Day after day, it may look like nothing is happening. But under the surface, God is at work. The seed is splitting open, roots are reaching down, and life is beginning to grow. You may not see it, but it’s real.
That’s what Paul was saying in Philippians 1:6. The moment you believed, God planted His Spirit in you, and He isn’t about to leave you half-grown. He will carry His work all the way to harvest.
We’ve all seen half-finished projects—an old barn without a roof, or a quilt left with threads dangling. That’s people. We get tired, distracted, or give up. But not God. Psalm 138:8 says, “The Lord will accomplish what concerns me; Your faithfulness, Lord, is everlasting.” He doesn’t leave loose ends.
Sometimes His work in us feels like hammer and chisel. A carpenter knocking at a rough piece of wood doesn’t look like much at first, but over time something beautiful takes shape. Romans 8:29 says God has predestined us “to become conformed to the image of His Son.” Every trial, correction, and blessing is shaping us to look more like Jesus.
And it isn’t always easy. There are days you stumble and wonder if you’ll ever get it right. But Proverbs 24:16 reminds us, “For a righteous person falls seven times and rises again.” God doesn’t throw you aside when you fall. He lifts you up, steadies you, and continues His work.
One of the strongest promises is 1 Thessalonians 5:24: “Faithful is He who calls you, and He also will do it.” He called you, and He will complete the work. Your part is to trust and obey; His part is to finish what He started.
Psalm 23:3 says, “He restores my soul; He guides me in the paths of righteousness for the sake of His name.” His name is tied to His promises. He will not leave you unfinished.
Maybe you’re in a hard season right now. The middle of the story often looks messy. Think of Joseph in prison, betrayed by his brothers. If the story stopped there, it would look like a loss. But God wasn’t finished. In the end, Joseph was lifted up to save his family and a nation.
It’s the same with you. Jeremiah 29:11 says, “‘For I know the plans that I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans for prosperity and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.’”
So hold on. Keep your eyes on Jesus. Hebrews 12:2 calls Him “the author and perfecter of faith.” He began your story, and He will write the final line.
The seed is planted. The work is begun. And the harvest is coming. Rest in this truth: “He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”
When you feel weak, remember this—He’s not finished with you yet.
