Gray applauds Goshen board for rejecting vote center proposals

CHEYENNE (WNE) — The Goshen County Board of County Commissioners on Tuesday rejected a proposal to move toward vote centers and away from precinct voting in Goshen County.
Wyoming Secretary of State Chuck Gray had previously voiced his opposition to the vote center proposals at the Goshen County commissioners’ meeting on Aug. 19 and in a letter on Sept. 8.
“I am very pleased by the Goshen County Board of County Commissioners’ decision to reject these vote center proposals,” Gray said in a news release from his office. “Vote centers often make it more difficult for rural voters to vote in person on the day of the election by increasing the distance that qualified electors will have to travel in order to reach the polls.
“The security of in-person voting has been emphasized by President Trump. The bottom line is this: precinct polling places are in line with superior accessibility, as well as safety and security standards, compared to vote centers, and I am very glad that the Goshen County Board of County Commissioners listened and rejected these proposals.”
