City Brew receives suspicious call from fake police officer
GILLETTE (WNE) β Police are investigating after City Brew received a suspicious call Monday afternoon.
A 30-year-old woman who works at City Brew said an unknown man called the business and claimed to be Lt. Lockley with the Gillette Police Department, said Police Sgt. Ryan Mahylis.
The GPD does not have lieutenants, nor does it have an officer with the name Lockley, Mahylis said.
The employee said the caller claimed to have two former City Brew workers in custody, and he claimed the business had provided $75 in counterfeit money to an unknown bank. The caller then questioned the employee about the storeβs hours and the process involved with handling money.
The employee did not provide any information to the caller and instead contacted the police. There was no monetary loss, and the business has been placed under a special watch, Mahylis said.
