Chuck Gray will be in Jackson for meet-and-greet; press again denied access
JACKSON (WNE) — Secretary of State Chuck Gray is attending a meet-and-greet in Jackson on Sunday for his U.S. House campaign.
Rebecca Bextel, a co-founder of Save the Rodeo Grounds and current state committeewoman for Teton County GOP, is the host. This is her second event in the last week for Republican candidates. On Monday, she hosted an event for Superintendent of Public Instruction Megan Degenfelder for her gubernatorial campaign.
Once again, members of the press are not invited. The Jackson Hole News&Guide, the Jackson Hole Daily’s sister publication, was denied access to Degenfelder’s event.
The public is welcome to RSVP to the invite via email, according to a social media post on Bextel’s Facebook. An address was not listed. The meet-and-greet has also been posted by other organizations like the Young Republicans of Wyoming.
“Our boy is running for congress!” Bextel wrote on social media Thursday. “Please come out and support Secretary of State Chuck Gray this Sunday at 4pm! NO PRESS!”
Gray announced his run for U.S. House at the end of December. He was elected secretary of state in 2022 and previously served as a state representative in the Wyoming Legislature. As the state’s top election official, he’s pushed for a plethora of election legislation, including, most recently, banning dual citizens from voting and holding office.
He has pledged to crack down on drug smugglers, protect Wyoming’s energy and agriculture industries, fight “woke wind projects,” and combat liberals aiming to have men compete against women in sports. He also aims to deport every single undocumented immigrant.
Other candidates who have thrown their hats in the race include former State Superintendent Jillian Balow and Casper-based businessman Reid Rasner, both Republicans, and Independent Daniel Workman.
