COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Feb. 17, 2026) – Senior thrower Cam Burkett was named the Mountain West Men’s Field Athlete of the Week for the second time this season, the conference office announced Tuesday.

At the Battle Born Classic, Burkett improved on his season and indoor best with a mark of 19.06 meters for his fourth shot put victory of the season. He was the only competitor over 19 meters and won by over a meter. The Casper, Wyo., native now holds sole possession of the No. 3 indoor shot put in program history and is No. 20 in the nation this season.

This is Burkett’s third Field Athlete of the Week award and fourth Mountain West weekly honor. He last won the award on Jan. 27 after his performance at the Bobcat Challenge. Burkett has also won the Men’s Field Athlete of the Week twice in the outdoor season and Freshman of the Week once.

Burkett and the rest of Wyoming track and field enter the indoor postseason with the Credit Union 1 Mountain West Indoor Championships, Feb. 26-28, in Reno, Nev.
