Adopt a wild horse at Frontier Days during Day of the American West
CHEYENNE (WNE) — As part of the Day of the American West, the Bureau of Land Management Wyoming will offer trained wild horses for adoption on July 23 at Cheyenne Frontier Days, in conjunction with America’s 250th anniversary celebration.
Following a live training demonstration beginning at 4 p.m., the BLM will offer halter and saddle-started wild horses through a competitive-bid auction for qualified adopters.
Animals offered at this event are healthy, vaccinated and ready for their new homes. BLM staff will be on site to assist with applications and answer questions.
To qualify, applicants must be at least 18 years old and able to provide a safe, humane home.
The animals available for adoption have been removed from overpopulated herds roaming Western public rangelands.
Visitors will have the opportunity to meet these living symbols of the American West and learn more about their journey.
Freedom and Liberty, the BLM’s wild horse and burro ambassadors, will be in attendance.
The BLM manages and protects wild horses and burros as required by the Wild Free Roaming Horses and Burros Act, working to maintain a thriving natural ecological balance on public lands.
