Cowboys Face Drake in Semifinals USVI Paradise Jam

ST. THOMAS, USVI (Nov. 19, 2022) – The Cowboys face off against Missouri Valley Conference foe Drake on Sunday afternoon in the semifinals of the U.S. Virgin Islands Paradise Jam. The contest is set for a 3:45 p.m. MT and is the fifth meeting all-time between the two schools.
The contest will be televised on ESPN3 for the entirety of the tournament that runs through Monday.
Fans can listen to the watch the contest, as well as follow stats on GoWyo.com. The contest will be broadcast live on radio over the 26 affiliate stations of the Cowboy Sports Network, as Reece Monaco will have the call with Kevin McKinney on color. 
About The Teams
The Cowboys head into the contest with a 3-1 overall record after defeating Howard by a score of 78-71 in the first round. The Pokes are averaging 82.8 points per game and are allowing 71 points per night. The Pokes are shooting 46 percent from the field with the opponents shooting 44 percent. The Cowboys are one of the top teams in the nation shooting the three-ball averaging 11 per game.
Drake has begun the season in fine form. The Bulldogs are 3-0 and winning by an average margin of 16 points per game. The Bulldogs are fresh off a 25-win 2021-22 season and were on of the preseason favorites to win the Missouri Valley Conference this year. 
About The Players
The Pokes are led in scoring by Hunter Maldonado at 17 points per game after scoring a season-high 28 points on Friday. He also adds 5.8 rebounds per game and has 18 assists on the season. Guard Brendan Wenzel adds 14.3 points per game with guard Max Agbonkpolo adding 11.5 points per game. Guard Ethan Anderson adds 8.3 points per game with 4.5 rebounds and he has 14 assists on the season.
Drake is led offensively by Tucker DeVries who pours in 19.3 points per game, while also corralling 6.7 rebounds per contest. Sardaar Calhoun adds 16 points per game, while Roman Penn and Garrett Sturtz chip in 10.5 and 10.3 points per contest, respectively. Penn paces the Bulldogs with 5.5 assists per game, and Darnell Brodie leads the way on the glass, recording 7.7 boards per contest.
The Bulldogs hit 51.1 percent of their field-goal attempts and that includes 33.8 percent accuracy from 3-point land. Drake holds its opponents to 39 percent shooting from the floor and 31 percent from deep.  
About The Series
Wyoming leads the all-time series against Drake 4-1 with the last meeting coming in 2017. The Cowboys won that contest in Laramie by a score of 96-89 in double overtime.

The Pokes will either face Tarleton State or Boston College on Monday evening in a time to be determined.
