Road and Bridge making repairs on Fairgrounds Road

After receiving numerous complaints about the condition of Fairgrounds Road, such as potholes and drainage issues, Weston County Road and Bridge is moving forward with repairs on the road. For that reason, portions of Fairgrounds Road and Painted Hills Road are currently closed to through traffic, but detours are available.
According to a note on the Road and Bridge website, the Weston County Fairgrounds and County Shop Road offer plausible detours. People can also use Morrissey Road.
According to Jim Hansen, Road and Bridge superintendent, the project entails tearing up the existing asphalt, grinding it, mixing it with gravel and relaying it on the road. The hope is to have the project completed by sometime next week, if all goes well.
Hansen said the decision to repair the road came as a result of numerous complaints that had been received about the condition and disrepair of the road.
One such complaint, according to minutes from a Weston County commissioners meeting, dated Nov. 2, 2021, was from Tom Farnsworth, who “asked that the Board
put the Fairgrounds Road as a top priority.”
Road and Bridge was then asked by commissioners, per meeting minutes, to fix drainage issues first and to put the road on high priority.
During the meeting, Farnsworth’s main complaints were large potholes and drainage issues, and that he believed it was important to repair the road as soon as possible because it is heavily used.
Hansen asks for the public’s patience as the crew works to complete the project as efficiently as possible.
