Dec. 31, 1934–Dec. 16, 2022
Freida Lincoln, 87, went to be with her Lord Jesus Christ after a short illness at Weston County Health Services in Newcastle, Wyo.
Freida was born the youngest of six children to Roy and Gladys Cummings of Monroe, Wash. She graduated from Monroe High School then worked as a nanny to twins Jeff and Jimmy in Bremerton, Wash.
In 1955, Freida attended Northwest Nazarene College in Nampa, Idaho, for two years. Her father’s sister, Aunt Ethel and Uncle Will Fowler lived in Newcastle and provided a room until she decided to remain here. She worked as a nursing assistant in pediatrics at Weston County Memorial Hospital. One day a man named Harold Lincoln was invited to play cards at cousins Betty and William Roark’s house. Harold and Freida were married in 1959.
Freida raised five kids along with cleaning private homes where she met her lifelong friend, Grace Davis. She also cleaned the forest service office and cooked for the daycare center. Later she was head cook and pie maker for Michael’s Senior Center on Main Street. After her retirement, she volunteered her time for helping with funeral coffees, taking money at the front desk, and various other small jobs when the center moved to the former elementary school.
She was one of the founding members of the local T.O.P.S. group, and remained a member for the rest of her life. In 2013, Freida became the Wyoming State TOPS Queen for her weight loss success, an accomplishment of which she was very proud. She loved to sing, performing while in high school and college for friends and family weddings, as well as choir groups like the local Joy Singers at church.
A sweet lady with a pleasant demeanor, remembered as the neighborhood peacemaker by boyhood friends of her kids, always ready with a smile, she will be missed.
She is survived by two brothers, Keith and Jim Cummings, both of Ellensburg, Wash.; children, Jeff (Crystal) Lincoln of Meridian, Idaho, Nathan (Gloria) Lincoln of Platteville, Colo., Beth (Jim) Anderson of Kuna, Idaho, Sheila Cole of Newcastle, and Chris (Melissa) Lincoln of Arvada, Colo.; several grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, sisters, Ethel and Wanda, and brother, Wayne.
A memorial service will take place at a later date.
Online condolences may be written at fidler-isburgfuneralchapels.com or sent to 1035 McArthur Street, Newcastle, WY 82701.
Arrangements are under the care of Fidler-Roberts & Isburg Funeral Chapel of Sundance, Wyo.
