Cowgirls complete first day of competition at Chambers Bay Invitational

University Place, Wash. (April 11, 2022) – The University of Wyoming Women's golf squad was in action on Monday completing the first two rounds of play at the Chambers Bay Invitational at the Chambers Bay Golf Club hosted by Seattle University.
“This is a really nice course and a great experience for the team but it’s also a very tough course. The conditions were tough and we didn’t have they day the wanted but they all played hard and learned a lot.” Director of Golf Joe Jensen said, “Despite the scores, I saw a lot of good today and they will be ready to finish strong tomorrow.”
Meghan Vogt led the way for the Cowgirls in the first two rounds putting together a total score of 156 (+12) to finish the day tied for 50th. Kyla Wilde got her day off to a great start shooting a first round of 73 (+1) on her way to finishing the day in a tie for 68th. Morgan Ryan closed out her day in 104th after two rounds with a score of 170 (+26). Rounding out the Cowgirl lineup, Cristiana Ciasca and Samantha Hui finished the day in 105thand 107th respectively.
Competing as an individual, Jessica Zapf displayed impressive consistency on the day shooting an 80 (+8) in the first and second round closing out the day in a tie for 77th with a score of 160 (+16).
As a team, the Cowgirls are currently in 18th with a score of 655 (+79) sitting behind 17th place Idaho. No. 15 ranked UCLA leads the team race after the first day with a score of 575 (-1)
The Cowgirls will wrap up play tomorrow morning with the final round set to tee off at 9:00 a.m. MT.
