Hospital CEO resigns

In a statement released midday on Monday, Oct. 2, Weston County Health Services Hospital CEO Judd Dawson resigned after less than six months on the job.  His resignation is effective once the board accepts it.

“Due to unforeseen and unfortunate events in my personal life, it is with great sadness that I must resign my position as the CEO of the hospital,” Dawson’s statement says. “Events have happened that were totally unexpected in my family that are forcing me to move back to Colorado. I have tried to negotiate another path forward that would allow me to remain in Weston County with my family but that is not possible.”

Dawson says in the statement that the hospital board is in touch with him and is working on a “smooth transition.”

“The hospital and foundation boards have been wonderful to work with and have shown their dedication to the communities they serve with thoughtfulness and consistency,” Dawson further wrote in his resignation announcement. “Further, I have found the staff at the hospital to be dedicated and hard working and a joy to work with.”

Dawson says in the statement that he will continue as CEO until a transition has taken place.

Neither the hospital nor board were immediately available for comment, however, the News Letter Journal will report on this as new information and updates become available.

Dawson replaced Maureen Cadwell, who retired, as CEO in February. Dawson was hired as CEO in June with an official start date of July 12.
