VERYLIN ‘DEAN’ WRIGHT

Verylin “Dean” Wright, 93, passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2022, at Weston County Health Services Manor in Newcastle, Wyo. 
Dean was born to Nora and Dean Wright in Tarkio, Mo., on Nov. 11, 1928. The family moved to the Newcastle area in 1937. Dean attended school until the eighth grade, and then went to work, which included various jobs extending from the family farm and a threshing crew to mixing flour for Toomey’s Mill in Newcastle. Dean enlisted in the United States Navy in January 1946 and served during World War II until he was honorably discharged Dec. 8, 1947.
Once back home in Newcastle, Dean worked for Sioux Refinery, where he met the love of his life, Mary (Midge) Ellen Stracke. He and Midge married Feb. 15, 1953, and welcomed five children into the world together. In 1976, Dean was recruited to work for Tesoro Refining in Kenai, Alaska, for a few years before retiring and moving back to Newcastle
in 1986. 
Dean enjoyed the simple things of life, taking time for his family, gardening, decorating his yard during various seasons, hunting, playing cards, and driving around. His home hosted many family holiday dinners, and he enjoyed attending the birthdays, graduations, and other life events of his grandchildren and great grandchildren. “He was the best P-Pa ever!”
Dean is survived by his sisters, Dollie Cummings and Dorlene Mayland (Wallie); children, Daniel Wright (Brenda), Barry Wright, Susie Overman (Craig), Lori Anthony (Tom), and Francie Hamilton (Monte); 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. 
He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ellen (Midge) Wright; parents, Dean and Nora Wright; brothers, Kenneth (Slim) Wright, Dean Wright Junior (Junior), Donnie Wright, and Myrlvin (Mugs) Wright; and sisters, Geraldine (Gerry) Mitich and Virginia (Net) Wright; and son-in-law, Tom Anthony.
Funeral services will be held Sept. 12, at 2 p.m. at the United Methodist Church
in Newcastle. 
Memorial contributions may be made to the Weston County Manor, and they along with any condolences may be sent to Francie Hamilton at 1142 Green Mountain Road, Osage, WY 82723.
